“I heard about WOMEN IN TUNE in March 2006 and started the mentoring classes a couple of months later. At that time, I had low self-esteem and a negative mindset about myself and who I am in God. I was also not very confident in my role as a pastor’s wife. However, the mentoring classes influenced my life so much that I very soon began to gain confidence in who I am in God. I found myself understanding God’s love for me and trusting what He said in the Bible. My desire to know God also increased after each mentoring class.
This has really empowered me to step out of my comfort zone and do things I would never have considered doing in the past. I feel stronger to support my husband in his role, as well as develop my own purpose and passion. I now mentor younger women, work as a volunteer at FLEP, a Christian Saturday School and have started reaching out to my neighbours, sharing the love of Christ in practical ways. I am also about to go back to college, to further my education! I used to be an ‘ordinary’ Christian. I had head knowledge of things, including Jesus’ Commission to go into the world and make disciples. I was also bound by tradition and felt inadequate and fearful. However, I joined the WIT Mentoring Classes and instantly felt empowered by the teachings. I began to learn about God’s love and purpose for me, which has truly freed me from the bondage of tradition. The mentoring classes are very interactive and practical, and have enabled me to make studying the bible and prayer a part of my daily life. I have also learnt to listen to God whilst studying and praying!
Isaiah 61:1-4 is now a reality in my life. I am not there yet, but I feel more confident in myself and my walk with God. The fear and inadequacy have gone and I can take initiative, minister in front of others in prayer and the word, and share the love of God to the women I meet daily in my profession. A London City Mission pastor has also asked me to share the bible in his church, which I’ve been doing faithfully.
