3. IT REVEALS THE TRUTH TO US.
John 17:17 NKJV
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
In this world of fake news, we certainly need to know the truth. God’s word is not just true, it is TRUTH. God’s word is not ambiguous; it is clearly the standard for all truth. You can count on God’s Word because it is absolute, final and settled, established and unchanging.
Numbers 23:19 NKJV
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
Psalm 119:89 NKJV
“Forever O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven”.
* God is omnipresent and omniscient. He is everywhere and sees and knows everything. He knows the end of a thing from its beginning. He knows all sides of every situation. Therefore, His word is true and ‘yea and amen.’ He does not and cannot lie! (2 Corinthians 1:20)
* God’s word reveals the truth about God, His righteousness and justice; His love, mercies and kindness towards us, and all His good plans and purposes for us. The enemy, on the other hand, tells us lies, which put us into bondage. If he can get us to doubt God and His word, he has us hooked, especially to fear.
John 8:32 NKJV
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.””
* However, God’s word reveals the truth about Jesus Christ, the Son of God and His Kingdom. Indeed, Jesus is both the Word and the Truth that sets us free from every bondage. ( John 1:1-5; John 14:6 )
* Therefore, the believer who is approved by God is one who, through diligent study of the word, has grown or is growing in their knowledge of the truth about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The truth about Jesus becomes their practical standard for life and influences them to grow, mature, and become more Christlike.
Ephesians 4:13 NLT
“This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”
* Approved workers are aware of the role of the Holy Spirit in revealing the truth embedded in God’s word to them, so they rely on Him as they read and study the scriptures, to show them how to walk in the revealed truth, who is Jesus Christ.
John 4:23-24 NLT
“[23] But the time is coming-indeed it’s here now-when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. [24] For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
