Growing Deeper In The Word (1)

Go Deeper In The Word Of God
Our theme for 2026 is “Behold Jesus Christ,” and so for the month of January, our ministry spent 28 days in fasting and prayer, asking the Father to “Show us His glory.” We realise that we desperately need the help of the Holy Spirit to grow in our knowledge and experience of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit had previously given us three clear instructions on how we can achieve this…
1. Go deeper in WORSHIP
2. Go deeper in PRAYER
3. Go deeper in the WORD of God
Following these instructions should enable us to get deeper in the Spirit to behold Jesus Christ and get better acquainted with the Father, so that He can reveal His glory in and through us, for all to see.
Isaiah 40:3-5 NLT
“[3] Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! [4] Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. [5] Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The LORD has spoken!”
For the past few weeks, we focused on growing deeper in worship. The next series of daily devotionals will focus on Growing Deeper in The Word.
REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS
Why should we read or study the scriptures? Why is it so important to us? How easy or difficult do you find reading or studying and study the bible? These are legitimate questions to ask, as many Christians struggle to read, understand, memorise and live the Word of God.
Yet, it is essential and beneficial for us to read and study the bible and obey its instructions. Think of some of the benefits of studying the Bible. Can you remember or find scriptures to support these benefits?
I invite you to reflect on these questions and prepare your heart to receive the Holy Spirit’s help and guidance to grow deeper in the Word of God.
The GIDEONS’ INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT about the Bible explains why it is important for us to grow deeper in our reading, studying, and knowledge of the holy scriptures…
“The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveller’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.
“Christ is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgement, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labour, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.”
IT IS FOR ALL THESE REASONS THAT WE MUST READ AND STUDY THE BIBLE!!
I trust that you will take time to follow and read these teachings and share them with others, as they are timely and empowering.

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2026: “BEHOLD JESUS CHRIST”
“When I turned to see who was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands. [13] And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest. [14] His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. [15] His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. [16] He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.” [Revelation 1:12-16]
