Growing Deeper In The Word (11)

A Requirement Of Our Priesthood (1)

Another important reason for deepening our understanding of the word and engaging in diligent study is to effectively fulfil our responsibilities and purpose as members of the royal priesthood on earth.

1 Peter 2:9 TPT
“But you are God’s chosen treasure-priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.”

Revelation 1:6 NKJV
_“And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” _

Revelation 5:10 NASBS
_”You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”” _

EVERY BELIEVER IS A PRIEST

Unfortunately, some people have taught that the royal priesthood is split up into kings and priest; as such, some believers are kings whilst others are priests. This teaching often allocates the kingship to believers who are in leadership in the marketplace, business, politics, etc; and the priesthood to pastors, etc and the rest of the church.

It is important to note that this teaching is erroneous, and does not accurately portray or represent Jesus Christ; it must, therefore, be rejected. Jesus Christ is a King-Priest, after the order of Melchizedek. He is both King and Priest, indeed, He is our High Priest.

Zechariah 6:13 AMP
_“Yes, [you are to build a temple of the LORD, but] it is He who shall build the [ultimate] temple of the LORD, and He shall bear the honor and majesty [as the only begotten of the Father] and sit and rule on His throne. And He shall be a Priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace shall be between the two offices [Priest and King].”’” _

Jesus Christ is the only blueprint and pattern for the royal priesthood. Jesus sits on His throne to rule as King, and from there, He mediates and officiates as High Priest; bringing perfect harmony between His two offices/roles.

This is what we are in Christ! As His Body, God has made us a royal priesthood. EVERY BELIEVER is part of the royal priesthood – God’s nation of kings who are priests. Every believer is a king-priest.

Therefore, in our role as kings, we are to carry and extend the sceptre of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the Gospel, fighting the Kingdom battles, and establishing His Kingdom in our nations and on the earth.

As priests, we have three key roles – (1) to minister to God, (2) to act as mediators between God and our families, communities, societies and nations, and (3) to disciple the believers (and nations), by teaching them to worship God, obey His Word and walk in His way of righteousness.

It was because of this third role of the priesthood that Ezra “set his heart (resolved) to study and interpret the Law of the LORD, and to practice it and teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.” ( Ezra 7:10 )

…AND SO MUST WE, AS PRIESTS!

God wants the whole world to know Him and respond positively to His invitation to enter into His Kingdom through Jesus Christ. As priests and mediators between God and humanity, the Father wants to shine forth His glory in and through us, for the world to see. As we grow deeper in the word and adapt our lives to its teachings, the more the Holy Spirit would shine forth the glory of Christ in us for all to see.

Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory.
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy.
Send forth Your word, Lord, and let there be light.

Fulfilling Our Theme For 2026: “BEHOLD JESUS CHRIST”

“When I turned to see who was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands. [13] And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest. [14] His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. [15] His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. [16] He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.” [Revelation 1:12-16]
