The Holy Spirit, Our Teacher
The Word of God (the Bible/Holy Scriptures) is the one of the most essential things in a Christian’s life. It is vital to our spiritual growth and maturity. It is important that we study and know the word, in order to fulfil our role as the Body of Christ and Royal Priesthood on the earth – living as citizens of the Kingdom of God and teaching others to do so.
The word of God is so important that Jesus taught it diligently to His disciples, and before He left, gave us a Teacher in the person of the Holy Spirit. You need the help of the Holy Spirit to study and obey the Word of God.
John 14:26 NKJV
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
John 16:13a AMP
“But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]…”
1 John 2:27 NKJV
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
Thank God for the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us as our Teacher. We must never underestimate and can never overemphasize the importance and role of the Holy Spirit in helping us to read, study and live in obedience to the word of God. With His help, we can read, study and apply the word of God to our lives.
Isaiah 11:2 NLT
“And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him- the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.”
You need the help of the Holy Spirit, our Teacher, to effectively study the word of God. He is the Spirit of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, might and the fear of God. This makes Him the perfect Teacher for us.
PRAYER FOCUS: Pray that as you read and study the Word of God, the Holy Spirit would give you understanding, knowledge and wisdom to receive and possess all the truths embedded in the Word about God and about who you are as a Believer in Jesus, what treasures God has in store for you, and your role and responsibility as a citizen of His Kingdom.
